Game Changes - 10th Feb. 2004

EmpirePoker.com has implemented some new Game Changes that we would like to make you
aware of.

Disconnect Protection:
In an effort to better standardize and make clear the rules and policies of poker at EmpirePoker.com we have renamed what was previously called ‘all-in protection’ to ‘Disconnect Protection’.
All-in is defined as: When a player bets all his or her chips.
Because the term “all-in” is meant to specifically mean that a player bet all of his or her chips, it is confusing to associate the act of disconnecting from the internet, and then being allowed to continue in the hand, with betting all of one’s chips.

You will notice a few changes in the lobby and on the game screen.

  1. Lobby – Options – Request Disc. Protect. ‘Request Disc. Protect’ replaces what used to be ‘Request all-in reset’.

  2. From the game screen – Dealer Tray - Request Disc. Protect. ‘Request Disc. Protect’ replaces what used to be ‘All-in reset’.

  3. On the game screen, ‘Disconnect-Protect: 1’ has replaced what was ‘All-ins: 1’

  4. You will also notice the appropriate changes made to the website.

Understanding the reason behind having disconnect protection is important. If you are unfamiliar with our Disconnect Policies please click here.

Multi Table Tournaments:

  1. Disconnect Protection – The Disconnect Protection Policy for Multi Table Tournaments has been changed to allow one (1) Disconnect Protection per person, per tournament. Once a player has used that protection he will not be entitled to any further disconnect protection. Each players disconnect protection for a specific tournament will expire as soon as that tournament has ended (or that player has been eliminated).

  2. Hand-For-Hand – All Multi Table Tournaments will begin Hand-For-Hand play at ten (10) spots away from the money and resume again based on the number of players that started the tournament. Please see the Hand-For-Hand chart for more details.

  3. Time Allowed To Act – When a Multi Tables Tournament gets to ten (10) spots out of the money the time to act on each hand will be reduced from 40 seconds (20-20) to 30 seconds (20-10). The time to act will remain at 30 seconds until the tournament is completed.

  4. Structure Change – The structure (levels) for Multi-Table Tournaments has been changed. Click Here to view the new structure.

  5. Payout Structure Changes – The payout structure (prize payouts) has been changed for Multi-Table Tournaments. Click Here to view the new structure.

Single Table Tournaments:
Disconnect Protection – The Disconnect Protection Policy for Single Table Tournaments has been changed to allow one (1) Disconnect Protection per person, per tournament. Once a player has used that protection he will not be entitled to any further disconnect protection. Each players disconnect protection for a specific tournament will expire as soon as that tournament has ended (or that player has been eliminated).

Fold To Any Bet:
A new feature that allows a player to check/fold for entire hand has been implemented. While involved in a hand you will see a check box with the words “Fold To Any Bet” appear on the left side of the game screen. If you check this box the software will check for you (if that is an option) and fold if you do not have the option to check. The software will take this action for the duration of that hand, not just that betting round.

City Listing:
The option to mark your city ‘undisclosed’ has been removed. All players city name will be displayed as a rollover on the game screen.

Look for more changes in the near future!
